Our annual April elections resulted in the addition of five neighbors as new BWNA board members. The board now has 15 members working across executive functions as well as leading various committees including Communications, Crime Prevention & Safety, Friends of Wilshire Park, Land Use, Newsletter, Transportation, and Welcoming.
We’re excited to introduce our newest board members, who joined the board because…
Aaron Breakstone
“I believe citizen involvement at all levels is vital. My family and I love that our neighborhood has so much to offer within walking distance—businesses, services, schools, and parks. Of interest to me as a board member are areas where transportation, land use, and safety overlap, and working toward strategies that balance multiple perspectives.”
Angela Frome
“I have fond memories of growing up in the Cully and B-W neighborhoods; I raised my children here. I’ve been active with BWNA on clean-up projects, home visiting for seniors, and newsletter delivery. I look forward to continuing to serve and build community with fellow neighbors. I’m interested in neighborhood cleanup, aging in place, and pedestrian and traffic safety.”
Patti Koehler
“I was spurred by discussions over safety and traffic at the Alameda/Fremont corner. My wife and I love many things about B-W: shops and restaurants nearby, beautiful lawns and gardens, and friendly neighbors who work to make this a better place. I’d like to improve communication and connection for all neighbors beyond this wonderful newsletter.”
Laurel Marshall
“I’d like to feel more connected with my neighbors, schools, and business owners, and believe I can achieve it in this leadership role. As a marriage and family therapist, if I can use my skills to build relationships, increase connection, and resolve conflicts, I’m ready to jump in! I’d also like to reinvigorate the ‘Block Watch’ program.”
Colin O’Neill
“I want to be more connected with the neighborhood and help where I can with safety, transportation, and land use issues. My family has lived in B-W for 14 years. We’ve raised our kids here. We love the mix of parks, quiet streets, and great stores and restaurants on Fremont, all within walking distance of each other.”
