BWNA Board Updates
During the regularly scheduled board meeting on the second Monday in June, BWNA met virtually. To fill two vacant board positions, Susan Trabucco was elected and Gary Hancock was re-elected.
Prosper Portland (PP) shared updated Tax Increment Financing (TIF) information in Cully. PP adjusted the district’s boundaries to remove businesses along Fremont but retained a small area within B-W near 42nd and Prescott. The board voted to not opt out of the Cully TIF.
Board representatives met with the Tacovore owner to discuss neighbors’ concerns about restaurant operations. The owner identified changes in business operations intended to address concerns. The board will draft a Good Neighbor Agreement outlining concerns and Tacovore’s mitigation measures.
A neighbor presented feedback from residents of NE 45th impacted by the McPeet’s tent and road closure. The board advised on next steps to work with City officials and McPeet’s to address neighbors’ concerns for safety and livability.

Crime Prevention & Safety
Mayor’s emergency response for homelessness has provided a centralized command center to coordinate homeless camp response. The result has been a higher number of camps being evaluated, cleaned up, and people provided options to move to shelters. Minor crimes are still occurring. B-W, however, continues to have low crime overall.
Friends of Wilshire Park (FoWP)
Thanks to everyone who joined us at Tacovore May 16 and Steeplejack June 15 for Dine to Donate events. You helped exceed $7,000 toward our fundraising efforts! Learn more and donate at www.friendsofwilshirepark.org. Thanks to Portland Parks and Recreation and the “Adopt a Bench” program, we have two new ADA-accessible park benches. Sit and take in the beauty of Wilshire Park—happy summer!
Transportation
The committee met with PBOT to discuss concerns with the Greenway Pilot Project at Alameda/Fremont, including safety and traffic flow. PBOT is working to develop a revised concept. The committee continues to work with PBOT on pedestrian safety improvements along Fremont, including soft bump outs at crosswalks and improved lighting.
