Bike Fun!

Sundays on Going

Get on your bicycle, meet your neighbors, and explore the Going Greenway! Every Sunday, rain or shine, on Going Street from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sundays on Going, organized by Bike Loud PDX, travels west from near MLK Jr. Boulevard and east to K”unamokwst Park.

At noon each Sunday there’s a slow roll community ride. Bike Loud also provides resources for neighbors to set up temporary street installations via the Portland Healthy Block program. (See block party article at left).

Bike Loud PDX is a Portland-focused cycling and traffic safety advocacy group. To connect or to request a yard sign, email bikeloudpdx@gmail.com. Visit bikeloudpdx.org for more info.

Pedalpalooza 2022

“Three glorious months of bike fun,” Pedalpalooza 2022 features organized bicycle rides throughout the summer months. Each ride is led by community members who volunteer their time to dream up a ride, plan it, and lead it.

Meghan Sinnott, B-W resident and newsletter delivery volunteer (thank you!) is a Bike Summer organizer. “Bike Summer is intended to grace our city streets with joyous, free bicycle rides now through August,” she said.

For more information and how to post a ride, visit shift2bikes.org. For a scheduled rides calendar, visit shift2bikes.org/pedalpalooza-calendar.

Sunday Parkways

Portland Sunday Parkways, in which the city blocks off streets for family-friendly biking, was waylaid for two years by COVID. It’s back this year. The first ride was in June. The next in-person ride is Aug. 22. There are also five explore-on-your-own Sticker Hunt routes. For more info visit portland.gov/sundayparkways/2022.

Bike Bus

A past event organized by BWNA board member Sam Balto with an assist from BWNA board member John Sandie, the ride took a host of kids to school by bike. For a great blog and pics of the event, visit bwnapdx.org/post/neighborhood-bike-bus.
