President’s Message
I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Beaumont Wilshire Neighborhood Association president. I joined the BWNA board last year as a means of continuing my passion for public service in a different way. I have spent my career as a civil engineer working for various municipalities providing services to the public: water to drink, collection and treatment of storm and wastewater to keep our rivers and streams clean, and transportation systems to provide safe places for people to walk, bike, and drive to where they need to go. I look forward to serving you as president, and welcome hearing from you about how we can serve you and our wonderful neighborhood.
Speaking of public service, we had a record turnout for board elections at our April meeting, allowing us to fill all then-vacant board positions. Welcome Aaron Breakstone, Angela Frome, Patti Koehler, Laurel Marshall, and Colin O’Neill. (See page 6). These are volunteer positions, with people giving their time and talent to serve our community. Thank you!
After two years of COVID shutdowns and restrictions, the board met for the first time in person at our May board meeting. For many, it was the first time meeting each other in person. While precautions were taken to provide a safe environment for our smaller board meetings, we plan to hold our general meetings on Zoom held on even number months for now.

We currently have active committees for Communications, Crime Prevention & Safety, Friends of Wilshire Park, Land Use, Newsletter, Transportation, and Welcoming. Please email info@bwnapdx.org with any suggestions or request to participate in a specific committee.
With the summer here, I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy all that the neighborhood has to offer, including Fremont Fest, National Night Out, and block parties. Gather safely and have fun.
