Beaumont-Wilshire NA Welcomes New Neighbors – Maybe Yours

One fine summer day, BWNA board member Patti Koehler and her wife, Kate Krider, biked out on a mission — to deliver the neighborhood association’s New Neighbor Welcome packets to those who had recently purchased homes and moved into our neighborhood.

The New Neighbor Welcome Project was developed several years ago by BWNA board member Al Ellis, who currently serves as board president. Each month, Al receives a listing of property transactions from a local title company. With the names and addresses of the newcomers in hand, Al then provides volunteer “welcomers” with an envelope stuffed with introduction letters from BWNA and the Beaumont Business Association and coupons for discounts from local retailers, all to be hand-delivered to the new folks.

In an ideal world, the “welcomers” find the newcomer at home and can make a personal connection. On this trip, Patti and Kate had the pleasure of meeting several of those new to Beaumont-Wilshire. Volunteer Kate Krider is the one wearing the bike helmet in the photo; photo by Patti Koehler.
