Food Cart Pod Opening Delayed
You’ll have to wait a little longer to savor the flavors at the food cart pod development in progress at NE 44th and Fremont. In a recent email to BWNA, project partner Daniel Silvey said a requirement to take down the little house closest to Fremont has caused the delay. He thinks it will improve the project in the long term, and it also allows for the addition of two more food carts at the site. Look for an opening in the first quarter of 2025.
Pedalpalooza Bike Summer!
This fun-loving bicycle festival happens throughout the summer all over Portland and features hundreds of events each year. Anyone can lead a ride or join one. Rides are free, unless otherwise indicated.
In previous years, rides have included such themes as a picnic, a dance party, a tour of heritage trees, architecture appreciation, poetry, and silly costumes, to name a few. Balto’s Bike Bus Makes The Washington Post!
Beaumont-Wilshire resident and bike bus organizer Sam Balto was quoted in a June 4 article in The Washington Post titled “Never Wait in the School Car Line Again. Here’s How.” While the article focuses on a bike bus group in San Francisco, the reporter credits Sam as the co-founder of advocacy organization Bike Bus World (bikebus.world) and for his “joyful videos of students riding to school that have helped ignite the movement in the United States.”
