The Avenue is “owning it” with the opening of Category 6, 42nd Avenue’s newest business, and its first and only bike shop. The wheels of community are turning and the 42nd Avenue Business Association (42ABA) is holding the handlebars. Movement started when the 42ABA joined forces with Our 42nd Ave. Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative (NPI) and Cully Community Market to bring the farmers market into the district. Cully Farmers Market is the result of neighbors, business owners and community organizations finding a relevant way to both serve their community and grow its economic stability.
The Cully Farmers Market, open every Thursday through September from 4 to 7 pm outside Rocket Pizza, Roses, and Old Salt Marketplace, is only one of the 42ABA’s key events this year. Its annual Street Fair is another way to check out this neighborhood’s emerging business district. Come join us for the 5th annual 42nd Ave. Street Fair on Saturday, August 23, from noon until 6 pm. Good neighbors + good food + good music = good fun. Bring your kids because piñatas and kiddie pools will be all the rage. In order to achieve “beast mode,” there will be a beer garden for the adults.
Our 5th annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 4th, from 10 am to 2 pm is the last grand celebration of the 2014 season and will be “way rad.” It highlights the cultural as well as the agricultural bounty of our urban region. Last year’s festival saw 400 to 500 neighbors gather to enjoy the harvest. So wheel on over and check out what’s new on 42nd Avenue.
