Perspectives
This edition of the newsletter introduces “Perspectives,” an opportunity to hear from a variety of neighbors with different opinions and experiences in our neighborhood. This month we asked the question:
“What do you like most about living in our neighborhood?”
“We moved to the neighborhood for the good schools. My favorite thing about the neighborhood is that it’s quiet, safe, and residential, like I’d want for my kids but at the same time walkable to fun restaurants, coffee shops, and nightlife for some adult fun!” (Marguerite - 3 months in B-W)
“I have lived 55 years in the same home in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood. I love being close to thriving businesses, the airport, freeway access, and friendly neighbors.” (Mary - 55 years in B-W)
“I love my family history in this neighborhood. I live in the house my great grandma lived in, I live next door to my grandma, and I have gone to the same schools my mom did when she was my age.” (Eliza - 16 years in B-W)
“I think it’s the community of people. We have a bunch of friends in the neighborhood, but there’s also the park, going out to eat close by, sending the kids to Vernon. It’s kept us in the neighborhood close to 10 years and two moves just a few blocks apart.” (Oren - 10 years in B-W)
“I really like the neighborhood because there are a lot of really nice people, and I’m really close to my friends. It’s just awesome there’s a bunch of kids around to play soccer with at the park or over to the school for baseball. That’s why I like it!” (Elliot - 10 years in B-W)
Polly Webber, realtor, and mom of two teenage girls, has a lifelong passion for Portland. Born and raised in this neighborhood, she can’t quite shake her original stomping grounds. Several years ago, she even purchased and moved into the Beaumont-Wilshire home next door to her childhood home. Reach her by emailing polly@hasson.com.
