BWNA values its many neighborhood volunteers, from board members to committee members to those who can help only occasionally. In this edition, we’d like to introduce you to Events Committee volunteer Laurie Webber (no relation to Polly).
What drew you to volunteer with BWNA?
A little over two years ago I joined the first street mural painting project on Fremont. I had such a great time with the other volunteers that I offered to help with the next street mural project. Then the Events Committee was created and I joined in.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with BWNA?
I love the people I’ve met through volunteering and enjoy helping to create opportunities for our neighbors to get to know each other.
What would you tell others who might be interested in volunteering?
We have so much fun! And many hands make light work. I participate with the Events Committee, and we’d love more ideas for how to bring our little slice of the city together. Having more folks on the committee with the energy to help make the ideas happen would be great, too!

Polly Webber is a real estate agent with Cascade Hasson Sotheby’s. Born and raised in Beaumont-Wilshire, she lives in the home her grandparents once owned, next door to the house she grew up in — where her mother still lives — making her a lifelong member of our close-knit community.
