Creative Kids
My name is Rylie Newmister, and I am in 7th grade. Some things I like to do are play volleyball, swim, hike, spend time with my family, and make crafts. Some of my favorite things are blue, dolphins, watermelon, avocados, nature, and the beach. I also like baking and drawing, so I have a recipe that I made and some artwork shown here.
Rylie’s Chocolate Peppermint Delight Cookies
- 1 c butter, softened
- ¾ c sugar
- ¾ c brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- ¾ c Hershey’s cocoa powder
- 2¼ c flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 package of Hershey’s peppermint kisses, crushed
- Cream butter and sugars until light and mixed together.
- Add vanilla, eggs, and cocoa powder.
- Then add flour, soda, and salt.
- Unwrap and put kisses in a food processor and crush into small chunks.
- Lastly, add kisses to the dough and mix until the pieces are fully mixed in.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Let cool for at least 10 minutes on the pan. Take them off and enjoy.
Hey, Beaumont-Wilshire kids! Do you have a story to tell or want to be a “cub” reporter? Do you have a poem bursting from your heart? A drawing you’d like to share? If so, email Editor@BWNApdx.org with your idea or your draft submission, and we’ll run it in Creative Kids as space allows.
