Meet Rylie!

Creative Kids

My name is Rylie Newmister, and I am in 7th grade. Some things I like to do are play volleyball, swim, hike, spend time with my family, and make crafts. Some of my favorite things are blue, dolphins, watermelon, avocados, nature, and the beach. I also like baking and drawing, so I have a recipe that I made and some artwork shown here.

Rylie’s Chocolate Peppermint Delight Cookies

  • 1 c butter, softened
  • ¾ c sugar
  • ¾ c brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ c Hershey’s cocoa powder
  • 2¼ c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 package of Hershey’s peppermint kisses, crushed
  1. Cream butter and sugars until light and mixed together.
  2. Add vanilla, eggs, and cocoa powder.
  3. Then add flour, soda, and salt.
  4. Unwrap and put kisses in a food processor and crush into small chunks.
  5. Lastly, add kisses to the dough and mix until the pieces are fully mixed in.
  6. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Let cool for at least 10 minutes on the pan. Take them off and enjoy.

Hey, Beaumont-Wilshire kids! Do you have a story to tell or want to be a “cub” reporter? Do you have a poem bursting from your heart? A drawing you’d like to share? If so, email Editor@BWNApdx.org with your idea or your draft submission, and we’ll run it in Creative Kids as space allows.
