Michael DeMarco has been hired as the District Manager for Our 42nd Avenue, the Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative (NPI) located between NE Shaver and Lombard on NE 42nd Avenue. A former resident of the Concordia neighborhood, Michael has been an active member of the district’s leadership team since 2010.
“Exciting things are happening on 42nd Avenue and there’s a tremendous amount of community energy here. I’m honored to have played a part in connecting community members and to continue channeling that energy toward prosperity that directly benefits the people that live, work, learn and play here”, Michael reflects.
Michael holds a Master’s Degree in community and regional planning from the University of British Columbia. He taught for a year in Thailand and has worked on urban planning projects in Vancouver B.C and NE Portland.
Our 42nd Avenue is a non-profit organization leading a collaborative approach to economic development for neighborhood businesses and residents. They focus is on the retention and growth of small and locally-owned business, filling vacant space with services addressing neighborhood interests, connecting local business development with local workforce development, and improving the attractiveness and accessibility of the district as a place to shop, congregate and connect to the city.
