BWNA is happy to welcome Leslie Schommer, who joined the Board at our April Taste of Beaumont meeting. Leslie calls herself a “networker” and enjoys finding the “three degrees of separation” when meeting new people. She likes to discover the common link between neighbors and believes we all have a common interest just by choosing to live in the Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood. She joined the Board with that in mind and feels it is beneficial to be a silent participant on the team. So far, Leslie has made herself quite valuable, helping out with neighborhood newsletter distribution and playing a large role in organizing the neighborhood picnic in August.
Passionate about fitness, Leslie likes to promote staying active and enjoys walking, biking, hiking, and tennis with her husband Bob and friends. Returning to Bob’s Northeast roots last July, Leslie & Bob have been busy with their latest hobby - renovating their home on 40th Avenue. They moved back to NE Portland after 8 years in the SW Vermont-Hillsdale area and she says: “Although it has been a challenge to downsize, we are so thrilled to be back in the hood!”
Leslie’s husband is a partner of Schommer & Sons - General Contractor. He was raised in this neighborhood and enjoys reconnecting with his old stomping grounds. Their daughter, Leigh (24) is currently living in Mexico promoting epilepsy awareness in the country. She recently underwent successful brain surgery last fall for epileptic seizures. Their son, Kyle (27) resides in Colorado and works in restaurant management. Leslie & Bob stay busy with his business work and traveling to see both kids as much as possible.
Leslie’s warmth and outgoing personality make her a great fit for the BWNA Board and we look forward to her involvement in the neighborhood.
