Music to move by, pretty pink cookies, enticing ice cream and a spinning wheel for prizes all served to delight many excited youngsters in advance of the hit movie “How to Train your Dragon” shown at Wilshire Park.
The August 13 event was the fourth year in a row the Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood Association has been able to score one of the available Summer Free for All movies offered by Portland Parks & Recreation. The movies play in Portland parks where there’s a neighborhood association willing to pay the $1,000 fee required by the City of Portland. Also, for the fourth year, the hosting fee was split evenly between BWNA and the Alameda Neighborhood Association. BWNA sprang for the cost of the Mr. Hoo and the Hooligans band, which brought pint-sized, enthusiastic dancers out for a twirl.
