Creative, resourceful Kiran Mistry makes a smiling impression

This issue’s advertiser profile interview is with Kiran Mistry, DDS, Beaumont Village Dentistry, 4414 NE Fremont Street.

Please share a little about yourself and Beaumont Village Dentistry.

After practicing dentistry for eight years, I finally found the dental practice that fits my personality and is in a neighborhood I love. I inherited an amazing team that has been together for almost 15 years and wonderful patients who continue to come back after 30+ years and who refer their friends and families, too. What sets us apart from other dental offices is our attention to detail, our genuine care for our patients, and our commitment to providing the highest level of care we can. We go out of our way to accommodate people who need a little more care.

What do you like about being a dentist?

I love seeing and talking to my patients, many of whom have amazing stories to tell or who just have been through life experiences that are so different from mine. I’m also passionate about working with my hands and finding creative ways to restore people’s smiles. Dentistry is truly a blend of art and science. Before going to dental school, I studied engineering, because I always have felt the need to work with my hands and to solve problems. I love woodworking, fixing anything I can get my hands on, and as a child, I was passionate about art. I like to believe that I can think “outside the box,” which is important in a field like dentistry, because there are often multiple ways to fix teeth and keep people chewing and smiling.

Talk about the Beaumont-Wilshire community. What has your experience been like so far serving customers in the neighborhood?

It’s very satisfying being part of a close-knit community like Beaumont-Wilshire. I’m lucky to have support from inspiring businesses nearby. Many of my patients live in the neighborhoods nearby, and it’s great to see people stop by and say hi when they are out for a walk. It’s been a pleasure participating in neighborhood festivals such as Fremont Fest and Dash to Donuts this past year, as it’s allowed me to connect with great people. I’m also excited to see so many wonderful people who have lived in the neighborhood for decades walking into our office recently to become patients when their previous dentist retired.

What is your 2020 resolution?

I resolve to get in good physical shape this year. The past three years I have been so busy with my work and raising small children that I haven’t had time to focus on my health. Maintaining great health and healthy eating habits are vital to enjoying life, especially as we age.

One final tip from Kiran:

One of my particular interests in dentistry is caring for people who have been through or are currently going through cancer treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation often cause dry mouth, which can result in a lot of dental decay in uncommon areas, so it’s important to have regular dental checkups through that process.

Kiran, thanks for all you do for your patients and for the Beaumont-Wilshire community!
